2차대전 관련 국내서적/독일 공수부대

수송기에 탑승하여 적진상공까지 가서 낙하산으로 또는 글라이더로 착륙하여 작전하는 부대를 일컬어 공수부대(空輸部隊)또는 공정부대(空挺部隊)라 하는데 2차대전과 관련된 것들은 우리가 흔히 알다시피 연합군의 공수부대를 다룬 이야기들이 주를 이루는데 비해 상당히 이른 시기에 만들어져 2차대전 기간동안 유럽의 전 지역에서 그 용맹을 떨쳤던 독일의 공수부대에 대한 자료는 상대적으로 빈약한 편이었다. 대체로 1941년 독일의 크레타 섬 작전과 1943년 이태리의 그란삿소 고원의 한 호텔에 연금되어 있던 이태리의 독재자 뭇솔리니 구출작전 그리고 2차대전을 다룬 사진집 등에 실려 있는 몇 안 되는 흑백사진이 우리가 알고 있는 정도의 다가 아닌가 싶은데, 이제 국내 최초로 독일 공수부대를 다룬 번역서가 출간되어 잘 알려지지 않았던 독일 공수부대의 역사와 유럽 전 지역에서의 작전과 활약상을 상세하게 다루고 있다. 특히 눈이 확 띌 정도로 많이 실려 있는 당시의 사진자료들과 일반적인 단행본보다 큰 규격 등은 이 책의 또 다른 미덕이라 하고 싶다.양장본이었더라면 더 좋지 않았을까 하는 아쉬움은 있어도 이런 책이 출간된 것만도 고마운 일이라고 위안 삼는다.
